Weekly Horoscope: December 9th - 15th
The focus of this week is Venus, as she encounters varying energetic experiences from both Mars and Mercury. Though the beginning of the week starts off a little slow, things ramp up with the Venus / Mars opposition. Then we get back on track when Mercury moves direct on the same day as the Full Moon in Gemini.
December 12th: Venus opposite Mars
An opposition between Venus and Mars usually brings up the tension between the idea of “the self” vs.. “the other.” This is especially true with the planets in the signs of Aquarius and Leo, respectively. Venus is a naturally relational planet, and Aquarian energy likes to focus on the collective. Meanwhile, Mars is more individualistic, and Leo is a sign that focuses on the self. Today, there may be a significant focus on the struggle between the need to focus on others and the desire to focus on yourself. Within that tension, there’s always a point of balance, whether through compromise or setting boundaries.
December 13th: Mercury Rx Sextile Venus
After the crunchy energy of the Venus and Mars opposition, Mercury comes in to make a positive aspect to Venus. With Mercury beginning to station direct, the issue of retrograde energy isn’t as potent as it was at the beginning of the month. This positive aspect to Venus brings a little bit of clarity and sweetness to the area of communication. However, don’t expect too many niceties, as Venus is still in the straightforward sign of Aquarius.
December 15th: Full Moon in Gemini & Mercury Moves Direct!
The Full Moon in Gemini is exact at 1:01 am PST. Full Moons are for releasing situations that no longer serve us. Gemini is a sign of communication, information, and the transfer of ideas. This Full Moon, focus on letting go of any restraints you put on yourself and your curiosity. Mercury retrograde is making a strong positive aspect to Mars retrograde. Under normal circumstances, this would lead to a powerful use of words, quick thinking, and the energy to share ideas. However, with both planets in retrograde motion, the ideas and thoughts might become frazzled along the way. Make sure you’re clear about what you wish to let go of on this Full Moon.
Hours after the Full Moon is exact, Mercury finally moves direct. Now that we all have a bit more clarity of mind, this is a good time to reflect on the lessons we learned over the past few weeks. Now, with the planet back in forward motion, the trine that started with Mars on the 12th can bring a little bit more clarity and energy to how you express your thoughts and ideas. Mercury will also start strengthening that sextile to Venus that started on the 13th. This positive aspect brings more open and flowing communication with those you’re in relationship with.
